Virtual Textiles

Due to the dominance of the internet, and specifically e-commerce, accurate virtual representations and simulations of textile-based products have become paramount. Currently, most information is conveyed through photos and videos of real products on real people. Complete virtual representation, including simulation of the physical attributes possessed by various fabric types and structures, still poses significant challenges. CIRTex is now conducting research that brings these issues into focus, looking at the potential influence of customization (in terms of sizes, outline, structure, and color, among others) on the production of textile-based products, as well as on consumer acceptance. For example, we are considering how the integration of AR and VR technologies is likely to influence textile production in the future.
